The cheapest contractor payment platform depends on how many contractors you pay and how often. We make one of these platforms, Omnivoo Contract Management, so read this as a vendor’s comparison. Every price was read from the vendor’s own page on October 14, 2026 and is linked so you can check it. We list Omnivoo first and the rest by situation, not as a ranking, because the cheapest option really does change with your setup.
The short answer
Most affordable full setup: Omnivoo Contract Management. $19 per contractor per month billed annually ($29 monthly, $25 on a 6-month plan) for contracts, W-8BEN and W-9 collection, and payouts in 220+ countries and territories, with no fee for contractors. Contracts only: $3 per contract billed annually ($5 per contract otherwise).
The cheapest option by situation:
| Your situation | Cheapest published option | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Contracts and tax forms, no payouts | Omnivoo Contracts | $3 per contract billed annually, $5 per contract |
| Contracts, tax forms and payouts | Omnivoo Contracts and Payments, Payoneer WFM, Toku list | $19 a month (Omnivoo billed annually) |
| Contractors paid only some months | RemoFirst | Free, $25 in months it pays |
| Already on Gusto payroll | Gusto international contractors | No seat, fee per payment |
| You handle contracts and forms yourself | Wise Business | From 0.23% per transfer |
| Your contractor pays nothing to receive | Omnivoo, Plane | No fee for contractors |
What “most affordable” should include
Five costs make up what you actually pay, and most price lists show only the first:
- The seat fee per contractor per month.
- Funding fees to put money in: card, ACH, wire.
- Payout fees per transfer, and correspondent bank fees on SWIFT.
- What the contractor pays to withdraw, which they often pass back to you in their rate.
- The paperwork you do yourself if the tool skips it: the contractor agreement, the Form W-8BEN, the records. If a foreign payee does not give you a valid W-8BEN when asked, the IRS can require 30% withholding.
The exchange rate matters too. Most contractor platforms, Omnivoo included, do not publish an FX percentage; every one shows the rate before the money moves, so check it for your corridor before you commit.

A year of seat fees at 1, 5, 20 and 50 contractors
Every contractor active all 12 months, at published list price.
| Platform | 1 | 5 | 20 | 50 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Omnivoo Contracts and Payments, annual | $228 | $1,140 | $4,560 | $11,400 |
| Omnivoo Contracts and Payments, 6-month | $300 | $1,500 | $6,000 | $15,000 |
| Payoneer WFM, Toku list | $228 | $1,140 | $4,560 | $11,400 |
| RemoFirst | $300 | $1,500 | $6,000 | $15,000 |
| Remote, Oyster | $348 | $1,740 | $6,960 | $17,400 |
| Plane | $468 | $2,340 | $9,360 | $23,400 |
| Multiplier, annual | $480 | $2,400 | $9,600 | $24,000 |
| Deel | $588 | $2,940 | $11,760 | $29,400 |
At 20 contractors the spread between the cheapest published seat and Deel is $7,200 a year. At 50 it is $18,000.
Three real patterns
One contractor, paid three times in a year
A seat you keep all year costs $228 (Omnivoo annual) to $588 (Deel). If you pay one person only occasionally and already have their contract and W-8BEN, a per-payment option can cost less. Gusto charges no seat for international contractors, just a $15 minimum per wire under $1,000 and 1% to 1.5% above it. Wise Business advertises transfers from 0.23%. The trade-off is that neither one writes the contract or keeps the paperwork together for you.
Five contractors on project work
Platforms that charge only in months you pay someone favor this pattern. Remote charges $29 for contractors you work with that month, Plane $39 in months you pay them, and RemoFirst $25 only in months it processes a payment. If all five work most of the year, Omnivoo’s annual plan at $1,140 is the lowest published total with payments included.
Twenty contractors on monthly retainers
Steady rosters reward annual plans. Omnivoo’s annual plan is $4,560 a year for 20 contractors, the same as Payoneer WFM and Toku’s list price, against $6,960 at Remote and Oyster, $9,360 at Plane and $11,760 at Deel. Omnivoo also charges those 20 contractors nothing to receive their money.
The fees that do not show up in the seat price
| Fee | Where it appears (published) |
|---|---|
| Card funding | Deel 2.9% + $0.30 (US/EU cards), 3.9% + $0.30 (other cards). Remote 3.5% |
| Bank transfer funding | Deel $5 (ACH, SEPA, BACS, wire). Remote $5; direct debit free |
| Per-payment fee | Gusto $5 to a US bank; international wire $15 minimum or 1% to 1.5% |
| SWIFT correspondent fees | Remote: $20 to $50 taken by correspondent banks. RemoFirst: $20, split as you choose |
| Contractor withdrawal | Deel: PayPal 2.5%, Payoneer 1% (minimum $12), crypto 2% + $1. RemoFirst: 2% may apply. Omnivoo and Plane: none |
| Inactivity | Payoneer: $29.95 a year if under $6,000 received. Ontop: $10 a month on an inactive wallet |
| Setup or subscription floor | Wise Business Advanced $31 once. Tipalti from $249 a month. Trolley $2,399 a year |
| Misclassification cover | Oyster Shell +$49 a month. Remote Plus $99. Contractor of Record $199 to $400 |

The cheapest payment apps, if you do the paperwork
If you already have signed contracts and W-8BEN forms, a payment app moves money for less than a monthly seat.
| App | Published price | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Wise Business | Free account, “from 0.23%” per transfer | Batches up to 1,000 payments, no tax forms |
| Airwallex | $0 plan, local transfers free, SWIFT $15 to $25 | Can collect W-8BEN through its developer tools |
| Payoneer | No subscription; recipient pays $1.50 to a local bank | $29.95 a year below $6,000 received |
| PayPal Payouts | 2%, capped at $20 internationally | 4.00% spread when the recipient gets a different currency |
The global average cost of sending money abroad was 6.36% in the third quarter of 2025, per the World Bank, against a UN target of 3% by 2030 (UN SDG 10.c). Any of the tools here beats that average by a wide margin.
How to find your cheapest option
- Count contractors and the months each one works. Project rosters favor billing in paid months only; steady rosters favor annual plans.
- Decide whether you want the paperwork done. If yes, compare contractor platforms. If you already have contracts and W-8BEN forms, compare payment apps.
- Pick the funding method. ACH or direct debit is cheapest almost everywhere; cards cost 2.9% to 3.9%.
- Ask what your contractor pays to withdraw with the method they will actually use.
- Check the live rate for your currency pair before the first payment.
If the answer is contracts, tax forms and payouts at the lowest published price, start with Omnivoo Contract Management from $19 a month billed annually, or $3 per contract for contracts only. See plans.
